I got a call from the Lagos state Governor's offic I got a call from the Lagos state Governor's office this morning and I was sure to be in some kind of trouble for something I said. My work is critical of the government sometimes. He reminded me that it was international women's day and assured me that I was being acknowledged for all the work that I do for the arts. Please understand that I'm an insufferable skeptic and after my first reaction of suspicion, I felt unworthy of the recognition. There are many women fighting the good fight for Nigeria that will remain invisible. Teachers, lecturers, doctors and nurses, mothers, wives, mama put, hairdressers, sisters, aunties, list them to infinity... 'S'heroes who make this world function in spite of all that is wrong with it.
But!!! It does feel good to be appreciated and to be told my minuscule effort does not go unnoticed. Thank you @lagosstategovt @jidesanwoolu Sir, I am deeply honoured and thankful.
P.s. my letter came with a perfumed lovely, silk, blue scarf.
More than 2 decades of hustle in this art industry, working it, helping to develop it for Nigeria and this gesture makes me feel fulfilled. I feel spoiled.

Butterflies for me symbolises a beautiful ending to an odious journey and better beginning toa new one. Here is a good wish, may your trials and travails bring you a beautiful ending and new beginning. 🙏
